A few things....

that make me angry:
war
judgment
children who are rude their parents
animal cruelty in the food industry
People who fail to realize the fundamental truth that we are all the same. brothers and sisters.

that warm my heart:
old couples who are patient with one another
old couples walking hand in hand
little kids saying "i love you." In the most honest and sincere way
my puppy
meeting people who have suffered throughout their lives but have still have so much love & happiness to give
gratitude
humility
strangers who really smile at me. A genuine, warm, radiant & contagious smile
gentle kisses on the forehead
random acts of kindness

Too cute.

the magical journey

Another thing i found in my old highschool documents folder was this essay that i had written titled "The Magical Journey."

Head spinning, heart racing, the beautiful girl ran as fast as her legs could carry her. So much beauty surrounded her, it exhilarated her every thought. Along the path grew beautiful flowers, of bright fuchsia, giving off the most magical scent she had ever breathed. The flowers had just bloomed, were huge and spread all around. The sun was shining ever so bright; its golden rays were warm and inviting. The sky was as blue as her eyes, as blue as the deep blue sea. Shimmering, glittering and sparkling a rainbow stretched across the great big sky. She could hear the blue birds singing sweet melodies from up above, they seemed to be speaking to her, encouraging her, motivating her. The winding path she had taken seemed to lead no where, but something in her would not let her stop. The wind all about the atmosphere talked to her, urging her to keep on going, filling her lungs with hope. Slowly she began to see something in the distance. A beautifully decorated castle, shimmering with gold, stood in the distance, attracting her like a bee to sweet honey. As she ran she was greeted by a group of butterflies. One  butterfly, a bug of great exquisite beauty, fluttered up to her and rested gently in her hair. The other butterflies followed, and the stunning young girl couldn’t help but smile. The more she ran, the larger the castle appeared, and this fired the fuel in her heart. She was going to make it, she was going to complete this astounding journey and reach her final destiny.

I am such a dreamer.

anthro

I went to Anthropolgie with my friend the other day and fell in love with all these beautiful kitchen items.

I even came close to buying this one

Look at the cute little heart on the inside of it!

If only Anthropology wasn't ridiculously overpriced.....

imagination

I came across this quote today on someones twitter, and i find it to be very true.

i have a confession to make

i kind of love to meow. It makes me feel silly. And sometimes we need more silliness in our lives. Its  fun. Do it. I dare you. Meow.

never settle

So i often find myself giving my friends advice that i never seem to follow myself. One of them being that they should never settle with anyone. In my mind the right person should be someone that uplifts your spirits, inspires you and wants to see you happy, all the time. Not someone who you spend half your time happy with and the other half upset, stressed and disappointed. I often have times when I have to convince myself  that finding that person is even possible. These are the times when i doubt past decisions I have made and ask myself if that was as good as it could ever get. And maybe I should have just been content and stuck with what I had. But truth of the matter is, I wasn't happy. Im not looking for someone perfect. Far from it. Just someone perfect for me. Someone I can be truly honest with and open my heart to without any fear that doing so would leave me vulnerable. A best friend and companion in life whom I can spend one second laughing with, and the other second discussing deep & meaningful life issues. One of the things i am especially bad at is being patient. Its something I know i must keep working on and reminding myself to do. For now all i can do is enjoy everything given to me and choose to be grateful and happy with myself.

I took this picture of my mom last spring on a boat on a volcanic lake in Kibuye, Rwanda. Her ability to be grateful for whatever she is given in life has always been an inspiration. She is also unfailing patient, with anything and anyone. She has more inner strength than anyone i know. Love you.

Dear best friend,

Reasons why i love you:
1. You have one of the biggest and kindest hearts of anyone i know
2. You know me inside and out and push me to do things that scare me but you know i can do
3. You are beautiful. inside and out. and ALL OVER.
4. Your the sister i never had.

5. Even when we fight you still bring me dinner so that i dont go hungry all night (Greenacre)
6. We are both equally obsessed with our future weddings and have discussed every tiny detail possible with one another
7. we can be complete opposites but yet are simliar in too many ways
8. Imagining you in Dubai or any other middle eastern country makes me laugh. i cannot wait to see your face when we finally go to Dubai together
9. When you came over for dinner the first time and had mac n cheese made with olive oil you didnt spit it out or say anything negative about it.... even though you REALLY wanted to
10. You were my first real friend in the U.S. You saw through my awkward nerdiness
and last but not least....
11. WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LOVE ABOUT YOU?!!!!!!!!

world citizen

"It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens."
